It is critically important to have clear understanding of pathophysiology of colorectal cancers and inflammatory bowel diseases, particularly rectal cancers to achieve cure by complete mesorectal excision to remove all the lymph glands and at the same time to avoid permanent colostomy as much as possible without compromising the cure. Most of these demanding surgical procedures are done laparoscopically in our practice, that’s where we make difference to patients by providing the highest quality of care.
Over the years our practice has been actively involved in teaching residents and research. We do clinical research on diseases of Colon, Rectum and Intestines to evaluate the efficacy of various management modalities to develop and establish gold standard of care.

Dr. Sankar Adusumilli an authority in the specialty of Colon Rectal Surgery, earned his medical degree and masters degree in Surgery from University of Health Sciences, Andhra Pradesh, India. Then he worked as a trauma surgeon in a one of the busiest trauma centers in the world Kingston Public Hospital, Jamaica, West Indies. Dr. Adusumilli completed a surgical residence at Bronx-Lebanon hospital, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, NY. and also was a clinical instructor for the university’s department of surgery. He completed a fellowship in colon & rectal surgery at University of Illinois at Chicago and Cook County hospitals. Dr. Adusumilli holds multiple masters degrees in Surgery, has multiple research presentations, has extensive experience, and an authority in advanced Laparoscopic Colon and Rectal Surgery.
